According to a new study by Vielife (an online health and well-being company) approximately 1 million workers in the UK suffer from ‘sleep drunkenness’. Sleep deprivation is a big problem, and it has been said that the effects of sleep deprivation can be equivalent to being drunk. Apparently being ‘sleep drunk’ is caused by the tiredness felt after long waking hours which has the same effect as a raised blood alcohol level above the legal limit to drive. We wouldn’t drive our car after drinking more alcohol than the legal limit, but many don’t think twice about getting behind the wheel whilst sleep deprived.
