The dreamiest bedroom design trends of 2017 and how to achieve them
Alarms blaring, dogs barking, phones ringing, iPads pinging, kettles boiling, engines revving - it's a hectic world that we live in. And if there's one thing you can be absolutely sure of, it's that life isn't set to get any calmer. Does anyone else need a break?
It certainly seems so, with a desire for peace and quiet dominating this year's interior design trends. And while a tropical timeout might not be possible for all of us, transforming your bedroom into an oasis of calm definitely is. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3... trust us...
1. Calming Colours
Statement colours and bold designs have their time and place – but your slumber sanctuary is not one of them. When it comes to your bedroom boudoir, deep relaxing shades are in; and it’s a trend which is set to stay. Rich shades of green are in particular favour this year, stirring feelings of safety, harmony and renewal. Pepper with soft greys, bronze tones and blushing highlights for a timeless and perfectly balanced colour scheme.
2. Eclectic Textures
When it comes to textures and fabrics, think luxury, think opulence – and lots of it. Welcome velvets, cashmeres, thick knits, faux fur and everything inbetween to the slumber party in the form of curtains, rugs, drapes, and throws. You will spend around one third of 2017 asleep in this space; comfort is definitely king.
3. Technology-Free Time
Blue light produced by technology stimulates the brain and messes up the hormonal cycle which prepares our bodies for sleep, making it more difficult to nod off when bedtime comes around – that’s a scientific fact. So if you’re serious about sleeping peacefully in 2017, it’s time to cull late night surfing, bedtime TV, and even your digital alarm clock. Embrace a vintage bedtime routine and get stuck into a good book. We can’t recommend it enough.
Blissfull slumbers await...
